Youth with juvenile legal involvement have high rates of unmet physical, developmental, and mental health needs as well as higher mortality rates and disparate poor health outcomes compared to the general adolescent population. The Health Equity in Youth Affected by the Carceral System SIG is dedicated to improving the healthcare of youth impacted by the carceral system. The SIG will focus on evidence-based clinical practices, research, and education to advance health outcomes for this structurally vulnerable population.
