Health Literacy Meeting Materials for PAS (Members only Section)
We are looking forward to the Health Literacy SIG meeting at the upcoming 2013 PAS meeting in Washington DC, which will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2:45-4:45PM (Room 148; Washington Convention Center).
We expect that this will be an exciting SIG meeting We will have a special guest speaker, Anne C. Beal, MD, MPH, Chief Operating Officer of the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). As PCORI's first COO, Beal is responsible for ensuring PCORI develops the structure and capacity needed to carry out its mission as the nation's largest research institute focused on patient-centered outcomes research. She will be discussing the current and future role of PCORI in funding health literacy and health communication research.
As part of the SIG meeting, participants will have an increased opportunity to get feedback on their current and planned health literacy projects, and network with others interested in health literacy issues. We will be discussing a proposed APA Health Literacy Policy Statement as well as nominating new Health Literacy SIG chairs for the upcoming term.
