June 2013 Newsletter Article

The Newborn SIG met on Saturday afternoon, May 4th. It was great to network and be face-to-face with 44 colleagues from national and international locations!

SIG updates from the National Child & Maternal Health Education Committee and from the Better Outcomes through Research for Newborns (BORN) Network were presented by Dr. Tony Burgos.

A special thank you is due to Dr. Debra Bogen for her excellent keynote presentation on Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome.

SIG business included a call for volunteers to join the APA Health Care Delivery Committee. Contact Dr. Jane Knapp [jknapp@cmh.edu] if you would like to participate in this energized effort. Dr. Terry Wall was recognized for her excellent SIG leadership these last 3 years. We welcomed Dr. Esther Chung as the incoming co-chair.

A break-out networking session concluded the meeting.

This SIG never rests! Although we are still recovering from PAS, the SIG is already actively circulating questions and announcements on the listserv. If you did not find your name on the circulated member sheet, be sure to make sure your APA membership has not expired! You won't want to miss the helpful advice available from your APA nursery colleagues!
