Description:
This SIG was formed to support pediatric researchers who are not necessarily medically trained or engaged in medical practice. We’re currently made up of epidemiologists, neuroscientists, behavioral scientists, sociologists, health services researchers, decision scientists, public health researchers, public health professionals, health policy/advocacy researchers, medical educators, biostatisticians, several types of psychologists, and we welcome other disciplines. Our overarching goal is to facilitate scientific and professional collaborations that will support career development and advance pediatric research.

Mission:
The mission of this SIG is to support the career development and the sharing of methods and ideas among individuals, who are not necessarily medically trained, and are conducting research in pediatric medicine.

Goals:

  1. Career development
  2. Sharing of research methods and resources
  3. Sharing of information about different pediatric research department infrastructures
  4. Advocacy

If accepted, at PAS 2018 we will be holding a Career Workshop called "Building a Successful Career as a Non-Clinical Pediatric Researcher" and one titled "Hot Topics in Pediatric Research Methodology", which will focus on multivariate statistics and clustered analysis, classification and regression trees and random forest techniques as well as mixed methods.

The Interdisciplinary Pediatric Researchers is a new SIG within APA. As such we were hoping for some information on folks who are potentially interested in joining.This SIG was formed to support pediatric researchers who are not necessarily medically trained or engaged in medical practice. We're currently made up of epidemiologists, neuroscientists, behavioral scientists, sociologists, health services researchers, decision scientists, public health researchers, public health professionals, health policy/advocacy researchers, medical educators, biostatisticians, several types of psychologists, and we welcome other disciplines. Our overarching goal is to facilitate scientific and professional collaborations that will support career development and advance pediatric research. 2018 SIG Annual Report

The Interdisciplinary Pediatric Research SIG supports pediatric researchers who are not necessarily medically trained or engaged in medical practice. We're currently made up of epidemiologists, neuroscientists, behavioral scientists, sociologists, health services researchers, decision scientists, public health researchers, public health professionals, health policy/advocacy researchers, medical educators, biostatisticians, several types of psychologists, and we welcome other disciplines. The IPR SIG is excited about PAS 2018 and will have two methods related presentations (i.e. Random Forest and Mixed Methods). In addition, there will be plenty of networking opportunities and career development opportunities for staff and faculty at all levels of their careers.
