SIG purpose/mission:
The Fellowship Training SIG is a forum for fellowship faculty, fellows, graduates of fellowship programs, and anyone passionate about fellowship training.

Current SIG goals:
1) To support conversation and collaboration among a community of colleagues involved in fellowship training.
2) To share and discuss successful strategies, challenges, and curricular innovations in fellowship training.
3) To advocate for Academic General Pediatric fellowship training, including funding and other program needs.

SIG Session for PAS 2019:

Title: Fellowship Training and Division Directors SIG: A Primer on APA Research Networks – What Every Director Needs to Know    Objectives:   Following this meeting, participants will be able to:

  • Name the APA research networks and understand their missions (BORN, CORNET, & PRIS)
  • Describe some of the collaborative projects accomplished by the research networks.
  • Discuss how linking with one of the networks can accelerate research in fellowship programs and academic divisions.

This year we plan to combine the Fellowship Training and Division Directors SIG sessions. We will have representatives from the APA research networks describe their organizational structures and purpose, and also give some examples of collaborative projects they have conducted. They will specifically discuss how fellows and faculty members could use the networks to advance their research. The session will include both formal presentations and a Q&A panel discussion. Finally, the larger group will discuss practical strategies for helping fellows and faculty members participate in the research networks.
