Study Updates

Vitamin K: Data collection is complete! The study team is hard at work drafting a manuscript. Thank you to the 35 BORN nurseries that made this possible!

Lumbosacral survey: This survey closed at the beginning of October with over 200 respondents. If you participated, look out for a follow-up about those pictures as our way of saying thanks!

Breastfeeding study: This study on breastfeeding support practices provided by hospitals launched in early October. (This one is per-nursery, rather than per-provider)

What’s next from BORN?

If you attended BORN’s last PAS meeting, you’ll know that describing variation in well newborn care continues to be a priority for our membership. We have a few member-initiated projects in the pipeline:

How sweet it is – look for an upcoming study on hypoglycemia, aimed at understanding variations in practice.

BORN wants to know your institution’s bathing practices! With which author do you most agree with?

“I am sure that there are things that can’t be cured by a good bath but I can’t think of one” – Sylvia Plath, The Bell Jar “Children should never have baths,’ my grandmother said. ‘It’s a dangerous habit.’ ‘I agree, Grandmamma.” – Roald Dahl, The Witches
