APA Region IX and X joined together at PAS this year for our annual breakfast. Although a little bit "groggy" with the time difference (4am PST), we had a productive and informative meeting. Wendy Hobson-Rohrer gave awardee highlights from this year's meetings and it was inspiring to see the number of awards from our region (listed below). We encouraged those in attendance to participate in the APA Research Networks (CORNET, PRIS and BORN) which has information located on the APA website. This year's Paul Young Travel award winners had an opportunity to present their updated research findings to the group as well. The presentations were:

Emily Johnston (Stanford): The Spectrum of Reproductive Health Care Needs of Detained Adolescent Girls: From Community to Incarceration.
Elizabeth Rogers (UCSF): I Can Help Prevent Diabetes-Development and Pilot of a Youth Led Type 2 Diabetes Prevention Social Marketing Campaign.

Gina French from the University of Hawaii will now serve as the co-chair for Region IX. Please join us welcoming and congratulating Gina, Tamara and Mandy for volunteering their time and leadership.

We want to express our great thanks to outgoing co-chairs, Wendy Hobson-Rohrer from University of Utah (Region IX) and Anda Kuo from UCSF (Region X).

Finally, we want to remind all of the members to please consider submitting your 2014 PAS abstract to our local Region IX & X Conference held annually in Monterey, CA on January 25-26, 2014. The meeting will be held on the historic U.S. Navy Postgraduate School campus. This is a great opportunity for trainees, housestaff and junior faculty to present their research (whether complete or in the works) and most importantly receive mentorship from the esteemed faculty.

Hope to see members from all the states covered in our regions at PAS and at our Regional Meeting in Monterey!
