We would like to thank all who attended our Regional Meeting which was held on March 8th at Weill Cornell Medical College. Once again, the meeting was shared with Region 3 and the day was extremely successful. It was wonderful to see both established and new members. The day was full of education, networking, and mentoring; everyone had a really great day! Our keynote speaker was Dr. Sherry Glied who is a Professor of Health Policy and Management at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. Dr. Glied is a leading scholar on U.S. health policy reform; the focus of her presentation was the Affordable Care Act. The talk was very informative and all Region 2 members should have received a copy of her presentation via email.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to all of the workshop leaders. Cynthia Osman and Soultana Tomopoulos taught us how to incorporate social media into a pediatric academic career. Steven Cook led an inter-professional advocacy workshop with Patti Lubin, a legislative advisor from Senator Gillibrand's office, and Robin Vitale, a senior director for advocacy at the American Heart Association. Susan Bostwick, Cori Green, and Thanakorn Jirasevijinda reminded us that mentoring is a "two-way street." All of the workshops were timely, interactive, educational, and very well-received by the participants.

Dr. Benard Dreyer, our Immediate Past President, gave an enlightening talk overviewing the APA and all of the opportunities available to the members. There are so many ways to get involved! For starters, take a look at the special interest groups on the APA website. Sign up for one (or two!) that interest you.

Thanks to all of the platform and poster presenters for sharing their research projects with us. It was so inspiring to see some of the innovative work members from our region are doing.

New this year, and a true highlight of the day, was an informal mentoring session that took place over lunch. Students, residents, fellows, and junior faculty were given the opportunity to interact with the senior faculty and get great advice. This turned out to be a huge success and it will now be incorporated into future regional meetings. Thank you to all who participated, including our mentors: Cindy Osman, Arthur Fierman, Susan Bostwick, Nancy Spector, Benard Dreyer, Peter Szilagyi, Lee Pachter, Hans Kersten, and Steven Selbst.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone at PAS in Washington DC. Just a reminder that our regional breakfast will be held on Monday May 6th from 7:00 - 8:00 am in the Renaissance Washington.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions.
