Pediatric Policy Council

Pediatric Policy Council

The Pediatric Policy Council (PPC) was created to "speak with one voice" and combine the legislative advocacy efforts of the American Pediatric Society, the Society for Pediatric Research, the Association of Medical School Pediatric Department Chairs, and the Academic Pediatric Association. Each society has two representatives on the PPC.

Members of PPC

During the Pediatric Academic Societies' annual meeting, the PPC sponsors an early morning legislative symposium on a current research topic of interest to the pediatric academic community.

The PPC also sponsors the annual pediatric policy plenary at the Pediatric Academic Societies' annual meeting.

Each year the American Academy of Pediatrics holds a Legislative Conference. It is an excellent opportunity to develop or sharpen your child advocacy skills necessary to advance child and adolescent health issues through legislation and regulation on both the federal and state levels.

The PPC is a member of the Committee on Federal Government Affairs, American Academy of Pediatrics(COFGA). Chaired by Paul J. Chung, MD, Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Health Policy & Management, UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine, the PPC has provided a view from Capitol Hill since 1984.
